New ZoeyBot Site Reviewed
|
ZoeyBot was reviewed on KillerStartups.com where visitors vote on Web 2.0 websites. In just two days ZoeyBot broke into the top twenty where it's still climbing! |
I've been working on ZoeyBot for almost a year and a half. Over the past 18 months I spent many evenings and weekends moving the project forward. Along the way I have been blessed with the support of family and friends. Occasionally I get asked how I manage to stay interested for such a long time, and how I intend to make money. The answers are simple! By focusing on solving a problem and offering real value... the rest will fall in place. Besides, how can you go wrong trying to help hundreds of millions of kids?
This has been a busy month, the highlights include:
- A newly redesigned site (shown below) which explains the project and its goals.
- A dramatic reduction in the time it takes to load the ZoeyBot virtual desktop.
- Added the ability for users to choose a background wallpaper. The virtual desktop now offers over 30 backgrounds to choose from!
I must say that I'm grateful for all of the feedback I've receive from family, friends and fellow twitters.
Announcing Cocosci! - Free your mind!
|
Lately I've been spending a lot of time micro-blogging on twitter.com During the past few weeks I envisioned a service which would complement twitter. On further consideration I realized there are a few academic concepts which I'd like to explore. |
The word Cocosci is a concatenation of the phrase "collective consciousness". Essentially, the Cocosci service will be a social network which allows other to share their thoughts in new and interesting ways. At this point I'm reluctant to describe too much about what I have planned... but I think it's going to be a lot of fun!
We Nominate - Where your opinion counts
WeNominate.com is a web service which allows members to nominate and vote for virtually anything. The site was created by a buddy of mine named Dan. Essentially, WeNominate offers members a way of sharing their interests and learning from the interests of others. In doing so, WeNominate offers the web2.0-ish mix of community voting (ala Digg) along with the social networking aspects of finding people with similar interests. Personally, I think the site has amazing potential.
Technically, WeNominate is an open nomination platform which doesn't limit the categories one can create... so long as the category topic abides by a PG-13 rating. Members can create highly specific categories or more general ones. Dan recommends creating specific categories, such as "Best Zero Calorie Soft Drink", "Best TV Series of the 80s". The site provides alternatives for listed items and you're free to create one if it doesn't already exists.
WeNominate has been in development for several months and is still improving. Expect to see exciting improvements in the coming months.
